The Story: On day one in death Valley we knew we wanted to experience the dunes so we got there early and started walking, making it to the spot just in time for the sun to start peaking over the edge of the valley and lighting up the mountains behind the dunes. I was told by other photographers when traveling here you need to find spots where there are not people or foot prints in the sand, so I created some of those images. However, this image including all the imperfections and the other photographer in the distance was my favorite frame, showing the scale of how large the dunes are and how loved the spot is by other travelers.
